# Create a Metamask Wallet

After installing the metamask extension, a new tab will appear for you to create a wallet.

* Click on the "**Start Now**" button.
* If you don't have a wallet, click on the "**Create Wallet**" button.
* If you already have a Metamask wallet, just click on the "**Import Wallet**" section and fill in the private key (a string), you will immediately access your own wallet.
* Create a password and accept the terms.
* Write the 12 words on a paper and keep a safe backup. After that, click on the "**Next**" button.

Be aware that this 12 words are the ONLY method to recover your wallet, be extra carefull.

* Select each word in the correct order and click the "**Confirm**" button.
* Congratulations, you have a Metamask wallet.
